Alemania y Aclaraciones Varias. Stephenie Meyer My Space

I've been getting a lot of the same questions this week.
One in particular--how to get published--has popped up again and again. Here's
my quick list response:
Step 1) Finish your book.
Step 2) Have an English teacher you trust (or someone like that) read your book
and give you some advice on how to make it better.
Step 3) Follow their advice.
Step 4) Get online and research the term "Literary Query."
Step 5) Write a literary query.
Step 6) Join www.writersmarket.com (it's like $3 a month). Search through their
literary agents for the ones that represent books in the same genre as the one
you wrote. Make a list of promising agencies. (Literary agents do all the work
of selling your book to a publisher. Once you have an agent, you can kick back
and relax.)
Step 7) Send your literary query (with a self-addressed, stamped envelope) to
all the agents on your list. Follow any and all instructions they give for
submissions on their Writer's Market page. If the agent has a website (as many
do) go there and read all the instructions CAREFULLY.
Step 8) Expect rejections.
Step 9) Keep trying.
Step 10) Keep writing. That part is more important than anyone else in the world
ever reading your book. Do it for yourself.
Step 11) Go back and read step number one. Don't even think about these other
steps now. Just finish the book!! (I can't stress this enough.)
I've also been getting lots of book questions, and honestly most of them are
answered in various places on the web. Try the faqs on my website,
www.stepheniemeyer.com. Try the personal correspondence section on the Twilight
Lexicon, www.twilightlexicon.com. (If you're asking about Bella's period, please,
please, please go to the lexicon!!)
If you can't find it there, and the question is Twilight related, the answer
will probably be in Midnight Sun. So you'll have to be very, very patient.
If your question is about Breaking Dawn: Sorry! Not going to answer no matter
how basic or non-spoiler you think it is. Again, patience is required.
If your question is about me, I've got a fairly detailed autobiography on my
website. I'm sorry, but I can't do interviews and school projects--no time!
If your question is about the movie, get in line! I'm waiting for more info,
too! The Twilight page on www.imdb.com has accurate information, though they are
a little slow to update. Breaking news will be on my site's front page when I
get it.
If you want me to cast someone else as Edward, please understand that I have
nothing to do with the casting. It's not my decision, the decision is made, the
decision is final, AND I'm extremely happy with the decision.
If your question is about The Host--good news! I've gotten permission to post a
chapter from The Host on my website on Valentine's Day! Alien love, baby!
Embrace it.
Kisses and hugs to you all!
